Due to OSHA mandates concerning Confined Space Rescue, the Anderson City Fire Department developed the Anderson City Confined Space Rescue Team in 1994. Noticing the similarity in equipment and training, the team decided to also train in High Level Rescue and in 1996 changed it's name to The Anderson City Fire/Rescue Team. In 1998 the team joined forces with the Anderson County Sheriff's Department Aviation Division and added Air/Rescue to the capabilities of our team. In 1999, we expanded our membership to include all City Employees and immediately received applications from The Anderson City Police Department. We now have 16 members ( from the City of Anderson Fire and Police Departments) and train in the areas of Confined Space Rescue, High Level Rescue, Technical Rope Rescue, Building Collapse, Trench Rescue, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Large Animal Rescue and with the members of the Sheriff's Departments Aviation Division, train in Air/Rescue. The team answers all technical rescue calls within the city limits of Anderson, and are available to answer all Air/Rescue calls within the Hueys capabilities.
